Capt. Shawn with another big one.Frequently Asked Questions

Do we need a license or tackle?  No, your license, tackle, and cut bait are provided by the boat and included with your charter.

Is there a mate to help us?  Yes, the mate will help as much or as little as you want.  He will show you how to use the tackle, bait the hooks, and bring the fish into the boat.

Are children allowed on your fishing charters?  Absolutely!  Fishing is a great family adventure for all ages, so we welcome kids.  There are no age restrictions and anyone in good physical health can join in the fun.  Our mate is great with kids and will help them as much as the need to get their "big one."

What do we need to bring?  Food and beverages are NOT provided on board.  Please bring a cooler with plenty to eat and drink.  Alcoholic beverages are permitted, but please no glass containers.  It can get very hot in the sun, so you may also want to bring a hat and extra sunscreen.

What if the weather is bad?  Safety is our primary concern.  In inclement weather, fishing trips may be rescheduled if the captain deems it necessary.

What will we catch on a half day trip?  The half day trips (4 or 6 hours) are inshore trolling trips.  Target species include Spanish mackerel and king mackerel.  These are fast trips designed to have you fishing within 30 minutes of leaving the dock.  At certain times of the year, 6 hour red snapper trips are also available.

What will we catch on a full day trip?  The full day trips (8, 10, and 12 hours) are off shore bottom fishing trips.  Target species include white, red and black snapper, plus grouper and amberjack.  On the way out and back in, enjoy some high speed trolling for the elusive tuna, dolphin fish, and wahoo.  These trips take you 20 to 40 miles offshore, so expect a 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hour ride out.  The longer the trip, the farther out you go.

Is live bait available?  Yes.  We recommend the purchase of live bait for the bottom fishing trips.  The bait is purchased directly from the bait boat upon departure.  We suggest $10 to $20 of bait per angler.

Do you guarantee we will catch fish?  Although we almost always catch fish, there are no guarantees.  We can take you to where they live, but we can't make them bite!

How much should we tip?  The mate works hard for your fishing pleasure.  An average tip is 10% to 20% of the trip cost.

Do you clean the fish?  To keep the docks clean, we are not allowed to clean the fish for you.  However, a cleaning service is available at the marina.  For your convenience, they can also store your catch for up to 3 days.
